Mike Jones announced his candidacy for Sheriff of Chatham County Friday, February 3 at the ILA building located at 221 E. Lathrop Ave. Jones is a Democrat, and ran for Sheriff on the Democratic ticket in 2008. Jones is a Savannah native and veteran law enforcement officer who hails from a public service family. Jones has more than three decades of service with the International Paper Company.

Grand Festival Day at The Savannah Civic Center is the highlight of the annual Savannah Black Heritage Festival. Grand Festival Day includes an array of family-oriented activities, concluding with a star-studded concert. Five Men On A Stool, scheduled to perform Saturday, Feb. 11, 2012 at 8 p.m., is a contemporary R-n-B/Jazz ensemble accompanied by a touch of the spoken word.
