Visit Savannah and the Tourism Leadership Council (TLC) were awarded the Bill Hardman Sr. Tourism Champion Award in the partnership category at the Governor’s Tourism Conference in Augusta, Ga., today. The annual award is given to individuals and organizations that have taken leadership roles aiding in the development of tourism in Georgia.

“The team at Visit Savannah is extremely proud of this award and the recognition of our ongoing partnership with the TLC. Our collaboration underscores the importance and value of a thriving local tourism industry, and further underscores the message that ‘tourism truly is economic development in Savannah and Chatham County,’” said Joseph Marinelli, Visit Savannah president. Visit Savannah and the TLC work together to promote and develop tourism in Savannah. Visit Savannah markets the destination to visitors around the world, bringing in more than 13 million visitors each year, while the TLC represents thousands of people and businesses working in tourism and hospitality in Savannah through education and advocacy.

The Georgia Governor’s Tourism Conference annually recognizes several of the state’s top tourism professionals and organizations. “In addition to this award, we are equally as proud having been honored for three consecutive years at the conference,” said Marinelli.
