Halfway through its campaign, United Way of the Coastal Empire reports it has raised $3,912,335 or 45% toward the community wide goal of $8,675,000 to help people in Bryan, Chatham, Effingham and Liberty counties. The campaign ends on November 22, 2013.
With five weeks remaining until the conclusion of the campaign, Campaign Chair Dale Holloway, key account manager of Georgia Power Company, reported the results during a festive Mid-Campaign Rally held today at Monterery Square.
Since early September, hundreds of volunteers have spent thousands of hours asking residents of the Coastal Empire community to help United Way reach its goal. Funds raised during the annual campaign help support human service programs that improve the lives of people in Bryan, Chatham, Effingham and Liberty Counties. Priority funding goes to successful programs in the issue area s of Education & Youth Development, Economic Independence, Health & Wellness and Basic Human Needs.
Holloway commended donors and volunteers for the campaign’s progress and told the re-energized crowd that their hard work and dedication is showing results. “Considering the challenges that face our community, our economy, and our nation _our mid campaign results are certainly commendable. It is not only a testament of the hard work of many dedicated volunteers, but it is also a witness of the abundant generosity and compassion for others _that is stored up in the hearts of so many grateful people in our community,” said Holloway.
The final fundraising total will be announced at United Way;s Victory Celebration on Friday, November 22, 2013 at 11:45 AM at Savannah Marriott Riverfront.
