Trophy Rockfish Sought and Caught


 
 

This winters mild temperature and warmer water caused Dr. Emerson Brown, “The Grouper Man” to consider the prospects of catching huge Striped Bass/Rockfish.

With this in mind, he and several fishing friends: Dr. Jesse Gardner and Andrew White from Philly; Isiah Jones and Robert Hough from SC., traveled to Virginia Beach. Engaging the services of Midnight Sun Charters with Captain Ryan, First Mate Doug, Grouper Man and partners set out to catch trophy size stripes.

With fall-like weather (35-40 degrees; over cast skies, and a light chop on the water; Dr. Brown and Capt. Ryan agreed this was ideal Striped Bass conditions.

In less than three hours, the enthusiastic anglers had boated sixteen (16) Rockfish.

Seven of which were truly trophy fish weighing from thirty six (36) to fort two (42) pounds and measuring thirty eight (38″) to forty four (44″) inches.

The anglers expressed their sincere appreciation to first mate Doug Gray.
