Top Ladies of Distinction, Incorporated 32” Area IV Leadership Conference held in Nashville, TN The 32” Annual Area IV Leadership Conference of Top Ladies of Distinction, lnc. was held in the “Music City” of Nashville, TN at the Marriott Airport Hotel. The theme of the conference was “Maximizing the Impact of TLOD in Area IV through Service. ”

The Area welcomed with honors Lady Ozell Dean, one of the last two living Founders, National President Lady Audrie Lawton, the National 1st and 2nd Vice Presidents, Ladies Drema Woldman and Sharon Beard, National Treasurer Lady Sandra Jennings, National Recording Secretary Lady Oteal Gilmore, 8th Past National President Lady Dorothy Chimney, 11th Past National President Lady

Jarvis, Area I Recording Secretary Lady Regina Dickson and Past Area IV Directors Ladies Mary Lambert, Ernestine Kelly and Barbara Travis. There were approximately five hundred Ladies, Teens and Lords in attendance.

The conference began with an Induction of eighteen (18) new Ladies into the TLOD Family. The Public Joint Meeting was held later that evening with greetings extended from the Mayor of Nashville, other elected officials, the Conference Coordinator, Lady Phyllis Tarkington and Presidents of the Nashville Capitol City Chapter Ladies and

 
 
Teens Chapters. TLOD Area IV received a Proclamation from the House of Representatives of the State of Tennessee. Monetary donations and numerous requested personal hygiene items were presented to the Grace M. Eaton Child Care and Early Learning Center and the Nashville Ministries Shelter to assist them in carrying out their community service.

Special emphasis was placed on showcasing the Top Teens. Area IV was pleased to have in attendance the National Top three Teen Officers, Teen LaZaire Reese, National President of St. Petersburg, FL, Teen Cameron Bouligny, 1st Vice President of Savannah, GA and Second Vice President, Teen Angelique Dodd of Los Angeles, CA. ‘ITA President Teen Oshijah Cancer of the Augusta Chapter and the Area IV TI’A Executive Board.

The Top Teens agenda included three Plenary Sessions to address business issues, the Top Teens Award Banquet featuring the presentation of Mr. and Miss Teens representing their respected Chapters and an Essay and Speakers Tournaments with the winner receiving a monetary donations. The Teens also toured MeHarry Medical College, Fisk University and TSU (Tennessee State University). They had the opportunity to network with their peers, Advisors Teens and Ladies throughout Area IV.

entertainment. The conference continued with Plenary Sessions to complete the annual business of the Area. Lady Eddie Lee Marsh, Area IV Director gave the State of Area IV. She stated Area IV is making a significant impact in Area IV communities via our five programmatic thrusts (Top Teens, Status of Women, Senior Citizens, Community Beautification and Partnerships) and the six projects (NCNW, NAACP, UNCF, Literacy, Sickle Cell Awareness, and March of Dimes). The Chapters have logged thousands of volunteer hours and donated/ allocated and/or expended over $75,000 in funds over the past year. There were 35 Ladies and 187 Top Teens inducted.

in Texas). Area IV received numerous National Awards including Top Lady of the Year 2011 – 2013 (Lady Margaret Rogers of the Jackson Chapter) and the prestigious National President’s Outstanding Area Award 2011 – 2013, and other noteworthy awards. Lady Marsh was appointed to Chair the National Area Directors Council. Other events at the conference included the Memorial Service that paid homage to Ladies, Lords and Teens who expired since the last Annual Area IV Conference. The National Top Teens Ofhcers performed an emotional choreograph tribute of song, mime and praise dance that brought all to their feet. The morning continued with the move to the Prayer Breakfast where the renowned biblical scholar,

author, academic administrator and ordained minister, Rev. Dr. Renita J. Weems, Ph. D. was the keynote speaker and Dr. Bobby Jones of BET Gospel performed. The conference concluded with TLOD 50th Pre Anniversary celebration and the Lords Spotlight Appreciation Night. Over forty-eight Lords were literally spotlighted with fan fair, presented with gifts and acknowledged for their support to TLOD, their Ladies and the Teens. Lord Johnny Brown of the Savannah Chapter received the “Outstanding Lord Award.”

The Augusta Chapter invited Area lV Chapters and visitors to attend the 33” Annual Area IV Conference in Augusta, GA in March 2015. Area lV includes Alabama, Florida, Georgia, Mississippi, North and South Carolina and Tennessee. There are six (6) geographic Areas of TLOD throughout the United States.`
