The Savannah District No.1 – Order of the Eastern Star, Prince Hall Awards 16 Scholarships


As a benevolent organization Savannah District No.1 – Order of the Eastern Star, PH, they are dedicated to fellowship, community service, health and wellness, economic and educational development throughout the coastal empire by actively supporting various community service programs and activities, including providing scholarships to deserving students to continue their education in college or technical school. Much appreciation goes to each Chapter and Scholarship Queen who dedicated themselves to raising funds to help young people in this community reach their goal of seeking higher education. Worthy Matron, adds “When a student is given support and assistance with their educational endeavors, in turn, the community benefits as well. They consider their Annual Savannah District No.1 Scholarship Program a wonderful opportunity to put their support into action.” The following students are the 2015 recipients and the college/university they attend: Edra Andrews (East Georgia State College); Briani Brown (Savannah State University); Iyana Crawford (Hampton University); Lawren Crawford (Savannah State University); Jazmyn Cope (Georgia Regents University); Jabre’ Mosley (Clayton State University); Eric O’Neal (Georgia Southern University); Muria Orr (University of North Georgia); Tiamet Reed (Georgia State University); Le’Zaire Reese (Clark – Atlanta University); Taikecia Roberson (Dalton State College); Michael Stewart (Georgia Southern University); Arianna Tippins (Kennesaw State University); Aliyah Washington (Valdosta State University); Jordon Wells (Georgia College & State University); and Donte’ Williams (Georgia Southern University)

Each student submitted an essay a topic related to the Charleston Church Massacre. The essays were outstanding and impactful. The Savannah District No.1 Scholarship Program awarded each student over five hundred dollars. We congratulate all of these students and support them as they aspire to reach their educational goals.
