The Savannah Chapter of The Links, Incorporated is proud to present, again to the community, its White Rose Luncheon on Saturday, March 8, 2014 at the Savannah Marriott Riverfront Hotel at 11:30a.m. This fund-raiser will feature the jazz musical styling of the Lavon Stephens Band and a silent auction as well as showcase the various community programming conducted by the chapter. This afternoon of community awareness will be highlighted by networking and dancing!
The Links, Incorporated is an international, not-for-profit corporation. It is one of the nation’s oldest and largest volunteer service organizations of extraordinary women who have been committed to enriching, sustaining, and ensuring the culture and economic survival of African Americans and other persons of African ancestry for 67 years. Moreover, for 57 years, the Savannah (GA) Chapter has made an impact in the local community by supporting various civic, educational, and social causes. The members continue to remain dedicated to the legacy of service established by The Links, Incorporated by implementing transformational and sustainable programming to benefit the children and families in our local community and surrounding areas.
Programming highlights include New Beginning Youth Art Exhibit; Links F.A.-ME (Fabulous Active ME!) Leadership and Mentoring Program for middle school girls; NAACP “Get Out to Vote” Campaign; Linkages to Life – Donor Sabbath Program; and City of Savannah Adopt-A-Street Program.
Recent awards and recognitions of the chapter are First Place Program Award of the Southern Area; Best Practices Program Award from the Southern Area; Kid’s Edition and Mentoring Grant recipient from the Southern Area; “STEM – ULATING Left Brain and Right Brain” Grant recipient from The Links, Incorporated Foundation.
Collaborative efforts within the community include, but are not limited to, the City of Savannah; Rock and Roll Marathon; Savannah-Chatham County Public Schools; Savannah Black Heritage Festival; St. Joseph’s/Candler Hospital; Summer Bonanza Program; Susan G. Komen Race for the Cure; the West Broad Street YMCA; AARP, Incorporated; Linkages to Life; NAACP – Savannah Branch; and Savannah State University. The chapter also provides scholarships to local public universities, Savannah State University and Armstrong Atlantic State University.
