The Power of Agreement

“Again, I say to you that if two of you agree on earth concerning anything that they ask, it will be done for them by My Father in heaven. For where two or three are gathered together in

My name, I am there in the midst of them,” (Matthew

18:19-20).

Agreement is very important to God. The Bible states in Amos 3:3, “Can two walk together unless they agreed?” There is power in agreement. Jesus loves agreement so much that He promised to be in the midst of those who gather together in His name. There is a big difference between being in the same room with others and gathering together with others. Gathering together speaks of unity and agreement. It speaks of people being of on mind and one accord. Many marriages, families, and churches are in fragile positions because they don’t come together in agreement. Division and strife gives place to the devil and shuts the door to Jesus who is love. Where there is no Jesus there is no life.

Gathering together requires trust in God first and each other second. We must be willing to submit to God by submitting to each other (Ephesians 5:21). If we all lived with the desire to see God’s will come to pass above our own individual wills, we wouldn’t be so consumed with being right or proving our points. The one thing all of us should be able to come together on is knowing Jesus and working hard to make Him known around the world. Jesus is the answer to all of the world’s problems. In Him is eternal life (John 1:4).

Jesus made us another promise concerning agreement on earth. He said if two people would agree on earth, they could ask for anything and God the Father would give them their request. Many of our prayers are not being answered because of division. I want to encourage you today to lay down your opinions, your rights, your emotions, and allow Christ to live in and through you. Submit to God’s Word. Submit to God’s plan for your life. Fight for your family and not with your family. Fight for the body of Christ and not with the body of Christ. It’s time to forgive those who have hurt you so Christ can heal you.

It is time for us to come together in agreement under the banner of Jesus Christ, which is the banner of love. When we do this, we will ask of God the desires of our heart and nothing will be able to stop God from releasing His blessings on us and the world!

Blessings,
