The 2016 “Toby” Buttimer Awards Dinner

The Chatham County Democratic Committee is please to announce the 2016 “Toby” Buttimer Awards Dinner to be held on Saturday, September 24, 2016; 7:00 p.m. at the Hyatt Regency Savannah. The Pre-Dinner Reception will begin at 6:00 p.m.

This year’s award recipients are: Mark Tate, The Buttimer Award; Estella Shabazz, The Gignilliat Award and McArthur Holmes, The Matthews. Join us as we honor these great individuals for their outstanding work in the community. The keynote speaker for this event is Jim Barksdale (Senatorial Candidate).

Barksdale was born in Macon and raised in Atlanta. He always valued hard work. Jim started cutting grass at age eight and by eleven, he has his own paper route. His lifelong dream was to start a business.

Using savings and taking on student loans, Jim was able to earn an undergraduate degree from William and Mary University and a masters’ degree from Wharton Business School. While working and diligently saving his salary, Jim started Equity Investment Corporation from a room in his house in 1986.

Jim is not a politician, but that’s why he’s willing to hold Johnny Isakson accountable for voting to ship jobs overseas and supporting unfair trade deals and tax breaks for companies that outsource our jobs. Jim will stand against the Washington crowd, audit the Federal government to root out waste and duplicative services, and fix our broken campaign finance system. Jim believes it’s time we elect a Senator to hold Washington accountable.
