Thankful’s Annual Educators Recognition Service, November 3, 2013

On Sunday, November 3rd Thankful held a special service dedicated to all current Preschool-12th grade educators: administrators, teachers, paraprofessionals, clerical staff, janitors, cafeteria workers, crossing guards and all others involved in “… igniting a passion for learning and teaching”. The children and youth at Thankful were encouraged to deliver printed invitations to educators who made a significant impact on their lives. The 11am worship service began with old-fashioned testimonials, led by Evangelist Denise Jamerson, Minister of Music and the Angelic Voices. Greetings were brought by Mrs. Cornelia Hall, School Board District 3 Representative, Dr. Ann Levett, Interim Chief Academic Officer of the Savannah-Chatham School District, and Dr. Deborah Jones, principal of Gadsden Elementary, Thankful’s partner school.

A resolution thanking God Almighty for the commitment, enthusiasm and hard work exhibited by educators was presented to the school district and Dr. Jones, and refreshments were served to the more than 50 educators present. Pastor Sheppard delivered a powerful and uplifting sermon entitled “A Teacher Who Inspired Me.” The public is cordially invited to attend the 3rd Pastor’s Anniversary Celebration Nov. 7-10 as well as enroll in Session #2 of Thankful’s 7th Annual Christian Leadership School, November 11-15. Thankful is located at MLKing, Jr. Boulevard and Gwinnett Streets. Rev. Paul A. Sheppard is the Pastor. Visit our website at www.thankfulbaptistsavannah.org or “like us” on Facebook.
