The Superintendent’s Student of the Month is Deondra’ Eason, an eighth grader at Hubert Middle School.

Deondra’ was selected for his determination and hard work.

Deondra’ has made great strides this school year. After several unsuccessful years at other schools, Deondra’ came to Hubert determined to succeed.

This school year, Deondra’ has made the honor roll every marking period, and he has excelled in and out of the classroom. Deondra’ is a member of the National Junior Honor Society and was recently nominated to serve on the City of Savannah’s Youth Council and to serve as a Youth Ambassador.

In addition to his significant progress, Deondra’ has received several school awards and recognitions.

He was recognized for being the most respectful and mannerable student.

He was also awarded for having perfect attendance, and he recently received the Citizenship award.

“Deondra’ is a model student. He is loved by his peers and every adult in the building. He is always willing to lend a helping hand to his peer who might be struggling academically,” says Dr. Wanda Dixon, English Language Arts/Reading teacher.

When asked what makes him strive for academic success, Deondra’ says…“I have to do the right thing because my younger brothers look up to me.” He further states, “I want to make something of myself and become a productive citizen.”

An outgoing student and role model for both his school and our entire community, SCCPSS is proud to name Deondra’ Eason the Superintendent’s Student of the Month.

The Superintendent’s Student of the Month program recognizes individual students at the monthly board meetings who have excelled in the area of academics, leadership, and community service.

Deondra’ was recognized by Dr. Lockamy and presented with an award plaque and $100 savings bond at the regular board meeting on Wednesday, June 3, 2009.
