Savannahian Miller Bargeron, Jr. will introduce and screen his award winning documentary “Stubborn As A Mule” at the Hungry Club Forum of Savannah, Inc.’s (HCFS) 9th Annual Heritage Dinner and Coastal Showcase of Savannah and the Low Country, on Friday October 9, 2015, in the Carey Hilliard’s Banquet Center, located at 11111 Abercorn Street, in Savannah. A welcoming reception will start at 6:30 PM, followed by dinner, an afro-centric fashion display and exhibit, and a dynamic coastal area talent showcase, beginning at 7:00 PM.
This year’s theme is, “Embracing and Preserving Our Heritage to Fortify Our Future”. The presenters and entertainers were selected based on the HCFS’ interest and commitment to the history and cultural preservation and enrichment of our coastal culture. The young, gifted and black Bargeron, owner of We Came to Conquer Entertainment, LLC, continues to receive recognition for the film: Best Diaspora Documentary by the Africa Movie Academy Awards (African Oscar); Best International Film by the Music Video and Screen Awards (United Kingdom); and The Director’s Choice Award by the Portland (Oregon) African American Film Festival.
The Diaspora Marketplace will co-sponsor the event. Richard and Lillian Shinhoster and family of the Diaspora Marketplace, will present an exhibit of African fashions and artifacts. This continues to be a popular part of the evening as the beauty and history unfolds with their creative presentations. As always, some of the hottest, most eclectic entertainment in the coastal area will be highlighted. Only the top five acts of the season are featured for the enjoyment of the audience.
According to Bishop Willie Ferrell, HCFS President, ìThe Heritage Dinner and Showcase spotlights some of the unique and outstanding talent and cultural enrichment in the area community, in addition to providing an opportunity to fellowship, network and enjoy a festive dinner.
