St. Phillip A.M.E. celebrates 145th Anniversary

St. Phillip African Methodist Episcopal Church will celebrate its 145th anniversary on Sunday, June 13, 2010 during the 10 a.m. worship service. The guest speaker for this special occasion is the Rev. Matthew Southall Brown, Pastor Emeritus of St. John Baptist Church in Savannah, Georgia.

The founding of St. Phillip A.M.E. is a marked historic event. Organized by Rev. A.L. Stanford, June 16, 1865 in Savannah, it was the first African Methodist Church in the state of Georgia. Presently, under the guidance of the Pastor, Rev. Dr. John Foster, Sr. and the motto, “The Blessings are in the Ministries”, St. Phillip A.M.E., as in years past, remains true to its founding principles through continuous service to the community.

St. Phillip A.M.E.C is located at 613 Martin Luther King, Jr. Boulevard.
