Savannah State University women’s basketball team announces the 2017-18 schedule Monday that includes playing against the defending National Champions University of South Carolina.
Including the exhibition games, the Lady Tigers seven of the first eight games are in the state of Georgia, including six in Savannah.
Before the regular season starts, the Lady Tigers have two exhibition games with Wesleyan University on Nov. 2 at 7 p.m. and Paine College on Nov. 7 at 6 p.m. in Tiger Arena.
Savannah State opens the regular season with LaGrange College Nov. 10 at 7 p.m. in Tiger Arena before playing the next 11 games on the road or at a neutral site. SSU continues the season at Alabama State University Nov. 13 at 8 p.m.SSU returns to Savannah for the Savannah Invitational Tournament that includes teams of University of Florida, Providence College, University of Richmond and Wright State University. The Lady Tigers begin the tournament with Providence College at 7 p.m. Tuesday, followed by University of Richmond Wednesday at 2 p.m. and finishes with the University of Florida on Thanksgiving Day at 7 p.m.
The Lady Tigers travel to Statesboro, Ga., to face Georgia Southern University at 6:30 p.m. and then the next three opponents from Power Five Conferences, including two teams that made the National Collegiate Athletic Association Tournament last season with Oregon State University and South Carolina.
