Southeastern Premiere Of Addams Family Musical

Savannah Summer Theatre Institute, the Southeast’s premiere summer theater program, is proud to announce its 2014 production of The Addams Family. SSTI has been granted the exclusive rights to present the production for the first time in the Southeast.

Based on the unforgettable fictional family created by American cartoonist Charles Addams, The Addams Family musical brings back all of your favorite creepy and kooky characters from the television and film series in an all new hysterical adventure. Originally produced on Broadway in 2010, The Addams Family musical cast starred Nathan Lane as Gomez and Bebe Neuwirth as Morticia.

Ranked as one of the top 5 theatre programs for high school students in the country, SSTI now draws students from across the U.S. and internationally to Savannah each year. This season, SSTI is hosting cast members from 15 states who will hone their theatrical skills and leave the Institute prepared to take on the demands of college and professional theater. The program culminates in two weekends of performances with alternating casts.

Additionally, every summer SSTI brings in a series of guest artists who present master classes on a variety of topics. This year, Tony and Olivier Award winner Shuler Hensley will coach audition packages developed by students at SSTI. Hensley recently appeared in Waiting For Godot/No Man ’s Land opposite Ian Mckellen and Patrick Stewart on Broadway, and has starred in Tarzan, Oklahoma! and Young Frankenstein on Broadway. Hensley also founded the Shuler Awards, which recognizes excellence in Georgia high school musical theatre programs.

The Addams Family runs July 18th, 19th, 25th & 26th at 7:30pm, and July 20th & 27th at 2pm in Jelks Auditorium at the Savannah Country Day School. Tickets ($10 General children, $15 General adult; $14 Reserved children, $19 Reserved adult) can be purchased at the door and online at AddamsFamilySavarmah.com.
