Serena and Venus Williams played against one another this past Friday on the 31st of August at the 2018 US Open Tennis Championship. This was their 30th match-up as pros. Serena took home the win with a concluding score of 6-1, 6-2.

In an interview after the game, Serena commented, “It’s not easy, she’s [Venus] my best friend. She means the world to me and she’s so supportive of me. Every time she loses, I feel like I lose. She then goes on to say, “It’s a tournament and we all know its more to life than just playing each other and playing tennis.” The match between the two had many dynamics and low points. In the second game, Serena rolled her right ankle several times losing her momentum in the process, causing Venus to gain more points on her.

As the game was at a 2-1 lead, Serena sought medical attention and proceeded back on the court, gaining her dominance back and winning the match.

In the post-game press conference, Venus commented on Serena’s performance in the game. “Today she played untouchable tennis. Whoever she plays next she’s going to earn it.”

Serena’s next match was against Kaia Kanepi on last Sunday in which Serena won, causing her to progress to the US Open Quarter-Finals.
