Fall is here folks, and it’s time for the Savannah Waterfront Association 33rd annual Oktoberfest celebration. Festivities begin on River Street in Rousakis Plaza on Friday, October 7th at 4pm, and conclude Sunday at 6pm. The celebration features live music including: Rob Taylor and the Rhinelander’s Oompah band performing Friday, Saturday and Sunday, 2016 country male artist of the year issued by Georgia Music Awards – Lance Stinson on Friday, October 7, Liquid Ginger plays Saturday, October 8 with DJ mixes played throughout the weekend.
In true Oktoberfest fashion the annual wiener dog races are back! Enter your wiener dog to take home the trophy or join us as a spectator and watch from the bleachers. The races take place Saturday, October 8 at 10:00AM in Morrell Park. Enter your wiener dog online – SWA website or onsite. Registration begins at 8:00AM. Awards will be given for the top dog out of the top 10 times, best dog costume, parent dog look a- like and “almost wiener dog race”. After crowning our wiener winners, we will head back for music, crowd favorite stein races, and keg roll.
For the kids and young-at-heart – Kid Zone Friday, Saturday and Sun- day – free pumpkin painting, games, face painting and more! We are hosting a kid-friendly movie in Morrell Park on Saturday, October 8 at 7:30pm. Bring blankets, pillows and snacks and enjoy this children’s favorite with a river view. SWA and Savannah Rae’s are providing popcorn for the kids!
There will be plenty of artisans making unique items to take home. Indulge in local and German cuisine, grab a German brew and celebrate German heritage with us.
