Raise a toast to the New Year in true Savannah Style at the Savannah Waterfront Association’s 2nd Annual “Up the Cup” Countdown. The New Year’s Eve celebration will take place Wednesday, December 31 from 8pm-1am on historic River Street.
“Last year’s party brought thousands to River Street for a non-traditional ball drop and unique countdown to the New Year. We look forward to this year’s event as we make “Up the Cup” an annual tradition in the Hostess City,” said Carrie Bligh, Executive Director of the Savannah Waterfront Association.
The popular light show and digital countdown clock will be back again this year. “Our staff was amazed at last year’s turnout and enjoyed watching the crowd gather around the six-foot to-go cup while counting down with the digital clock at the end of the night,” added Bligh. T.C. Michaels from Bob 106.9 will also be returning as emcee again this year to kick off the countdown as the cup rises to the top of River Street Inn.
The “Up the Cup” Countdown will start right before midnight followed by a fireworks display to officially ring in 2015! Leading up to midnight guests can enjoy giveaways on stage, a dance party with DJ MXM, and share a festive photo on social media at Tapsnap’s digital photo booth.
This New Year’s Eve Countdown is hosted by the Savannah Waterfront Association and proudly sponsored by Wet Willie’s, Capital A Productions, Tapsnap, Savannah Coca-Cola, WJCL-ABC, WTGS-Fox, TravelHost Savannah, and Alpha Media.
