Savannah State’s Madison Hedderly was named Mid-Eastern Athletic Conference Softball Pitcher of the Week for the second straight week, while freshman Amber Hallman was named Softball Rookie of the Week the conference announced Monday afternoon.
Hedderly receives her third Pitcher of the Week award this season after a 2-0 record with a 0.37 ERA, and her first save of the season in a three-game series sweep of North Carolina A&T. The junior from Dublin, Ohio pitched 19 innings in three games, striking out 18 batters and allowing only 1 earned run on 10 hits.
Hallman, a Kennesaw, Georgia native, garners her first MEAC award after going 6-for-11 (.545) with three runs and four RBI in the three Lady Tiger wins. The third baseman was 3- for-3 (1.000) with two runs in an 8-1 win over North Carolina A&T.
Hedderly is 14-9 overall this year with a 2.33 ERA. She has recorded four shutouts and one save with 155 strikeouts in 162 innings pitched. Hallman leads the team in homeruns with six, in RBI with 30 and in hits with 41. She is second in batting average, hitting .360.
The Savannah State softball team powered by North Carolina A&T at the new Tiger Softball Field this weekend; sweeping a three game series to improve their MEAC record to 8-1 and overall record to 19-19. The Lady Tigers are in second place in the South Division behind Bethune-Cookman, who is 6-0.
The Lady Tigers host their last non-conference and last home game on April 24 against Presbyterian College before heading on the road for a three game road series against MEAC South Division rivals Bethune-Cookman..
