Savannah State Track & Field Runs At USC Open

The Savannah State men’s and women’s track and field teams continued the outdoor season with the University of South Carolina Open this weekend.

While most of the Tigers prepare for the historic Penn Relays this coming week, only a handful of members participated in the USC Open.

Kenshard Hamilton ran a 23.51 in the 200 meter dash, finishing 11th overall. Antwuan Poole ran a 52.49 in the 400 meter dash for a 19th place finish. For the Lady Tigers, Aluntrea Davis finished fifth overall in the 200 meter dash with a time of 26.03.

The Penn Relays are set for April 24-26 in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania. The annual event is the oldest and most prestigious track & field competition in America. The first relay was held on April 21, 1895.

The men’s relay team captured the school’s first relay event last year. The Tigers ran a 58.07 to win the shuttle hurdle relays.
