Savannah native Monica R. Parker, J.D., celebrated the forthcoming release of her first book, The Unhappy Lawyer: A Roadmap for Finding Meaningful Work Outside of the Law (Sourcebooks, September 2008) with a book release party in Atlanta, GA on Saturday, July 19. Friends and relatives from Savannah, including fellow Savannah Country Day School alumni Robert E. James, II and Frank Brannen, attended the event.

Parker, a graduate of Harvard College and Harvard Law School, launched her business, LeavingTheLaw.com, after practicing law for five years. Through workshops and individual coaching, she helps unhappy lawyers find and pursue fulfilling work outside of the law. “I’m delighted that I will now have the opportunity to reach many more lawyers through my book,” Parker said.

The Unhappy Lawyer is available for pre-order now at Amazon.com and will be available at Borders and Barnes & Noble bookstores in September.

Parker is the daughter of Dr. and Mrs. Gregg Parker of Savannah.
