Savannah Chapters of Top Ladies of Distinction, Inc. and Top Teens of America, Inc. Wrap Up for 2016

The Savannah Chapter of Top Ladies of Distinction and Top Teens of America are two working organizations that focus on the betterment of our community. During the months of November and December, the Ladies and Teens were actively involved in activities from beautification, to helping with gift wrapping for seniors and Greenbriar Children’s Center, to serving as host and hostesses for the MLK reception.

On Veterans’ Day, some of the Teens participated in the Veterans’ Day parade while others, along with their advisors, cleaned the grave sites of veterans buried in Eugenie Cemetery on Montgomery Crossroads. They also placed flags on each of the veterans’ graves. Because of the Savannah Top Teens involvement in the community, they were asked to serve as host and hostesses for the annual Martin Luther King, Jr. Marshall’s Reception which is one of the kickoff activities for the annual MLK, Jr. celebration.

As part of the beautification thrust, the Ladies and Teens participated in their Adopt-a-Street project on Saturday, December 10, 2016. The Ladies and Teens cleaned the area on Waters Avenue between East 37th Street to East Victory Drive.

During the holiday season, the Ladies and Teens volunteered their service to the annual gift wrapping for Greenbriar Children’s Center held in the Oglethorpe Mall. Several Ladies returned on other days to offer their time. Also, the Ladies and Teens partnered with Generation One to wrap gifts for senior citizens.

This has been a busy year for both the Ladies and the Teens. At the December joint meeting for the organizations, five new Teens were inducted into Top Teens of America.
