Savannah Area Business Political Action Committee Endorses Candidates



After interviewing candidates for each of the contested local races in the November 4, 2008 General Elections, the Board of Directors of the Savannah Area Business Political Action Committee (SABPAC) decided to endorse and make financial contributions to the following candidates: Chairman of the Chatham County Commission, Pete Liakakis; Sheriff, Al St. Lawrence; District Attorney, David Lock; County Commission District 1, Helen Stone; County Commission District 4, Pat Ferrell; and County Commission District 6, David Gellatly. In the contested School Board races, the local business leaders endorsed Daniel Frazier for District 2; Lori Brady for District 6, and Chester Ellis for District 8.

To show their support, the PAC contributed $2,000 to the countywide campaigns of Pete Liakakis, Al St. Lawrence, and David Lock. All of the other candidates received campaign contributions for their district races of $1,000.

The Savannah Area Business Political Action Committee, Inc. is a group of area business leaders who collectively support pro-business candidates in local elections. The SABPAC has more than 100 members representing businesses from all sectors of the economy throughout the Savannah area. Steve Green is Chairman of the SABPAC.
