Congratulations are in order for Sabria Jones, a Boy and Girls Club of the Coastal Empire (BGCCE) member, whose hard work has paid off and brought her the honor of being the 2013 Rotary Club of Savannah West Youth of the Year. On Thursday, March 14, 2013. BGCCE executive director, Vincent DelMonte with the assistance of St. Vincent’s Academy principal, Mrs. Mary Anne Hogan surprised Sabria at her school, St. Vincent’s Academy. In the presence of her classmates, Sabria was given a commendation and a $ 500.00 donation by the Rotary Club, Immediate Past President, and Dave Legasse. The Rotary Club Savannah West donated $500 to the Frank Callen Boys and Girls Club in her name. The Frank Callen Boys & Girls Clubs is a unit of the BGCCE.

“It really means a lot to me because after volunteering at the Boys and Girls Clubs I know the improvements that are needed. And it means a lot that someone would donate to those improvements and put it in my name because the Boys and Girls Club has so much to offer to youth such as myself”, said Jones.

Sabria is a high school junior who has achieved many academic and civic honors. She is a longtime Boys & Girls Club member, who is the 2012 BGCCE Youth of the Year and was chosen on the state level as the Boys & Girls Club 2012 South Georgia Youth of the Year. “We are very proud to have a young woman like Sabria represent the Boys & Girls Club. She is an inspiration to the other young members and to the BGCC staff’, says BGCCE exec. Dir. Del- Monte.
