Ronald McDonald House Charities® accepts donations of snacks and high efficiency detergent from Dr. Corinne Howington and the staff and patients of Low Country Dermatology in response to an urgent appeal issued last month. Just like your own home, holidays can bring more visitors and guests, which can call for more snacks and laundry loads. Low Country Dermatology began collecting the needed items at their annual holiday open house a couple of weeks ago and made a gracious donation of many detergents, snacks, chips, desserts and breakfast bars on Tuesday afternoon. “The Ronald McDonald House® is someone’s home-away-fromhome and particularly during the holidays, we wanted to make sure their needs were met,” said Dr. Howington of Low Country Dermatology. “We were happy to do our part this holiday season and help replenish some common household items that are needed since the house was closed a large part of this year.” Something as simple as enjoying a snack and the smell of fresh clean laundry can truly make a house feel like a home for these families with children in critical conditions during this holiday season.

In 2012, over 3,000 family night stays were provided by the Ronald McDonald House® but this year, the doors were closed for 189 days and once it re-opened there soon became a specific need for particular items. “We can’t begin to express how appreciative we are for these donations of individually wrapped snacks and laundry detergents,” said Bill Sorochak, Director of Development of the Ronald Mc- Donald House Charities,® “ we have such a critical need for everything that Dr. Howington delivered today and it’s the perfect time of year to celebrate the season of giving.”
