Ribbon Cutting Held for Flops and Socks


 
 

The Savannah Development and Renewal Authority (SDRA) hosted a Pre-Grand Opening Ribbon Cutting Ceremony for Flops & Socks on Friday, September 23, 2011, at 4:00p.m. The location of Flops & Socks is 104 E. Broughton Street.

Long time friends Dwayne Stephens and Corey Porter are proud to announce their first business, Flops & Socks to the community. Dwayne Stephens is a Savannah College of Art and Design student and Corey Porter a proud graduate of Morehouse College in Atlanta, GA decided to put their great plan into action. “We are very excited about launching Flops & Socks in Savannah,” said Corey Porter, co-owner of Flops & Socks.

The Pre-Grand Opening Ribbon Cutting Ceremony was followed by refreshments until 6 pm. Visit their website www.flops_ socks.com. Flops & Socks hours of operation are Sunday thru Saturday 10:00am-7:00pm.

Flops & Socks represent a growing number of net new businesses that contribute to the revitalization of Downtown Savannah. From January 2000 to June 2011, an estimated 158 net new businesses have opened in the Broughton Street Urban Redevelopment Area generating 736 net new jobs and $181 million in property investments.

Savannah Development and Renewal Authority (SDRA), City of Savannah, Savannah Entrepreneurial Center, Sanitation Outreach and Education Coordinator and the Savannah Area Chamber of Commerce were on hand as we welcome Flops & Socks.
