Retirement Celebration and Scholarship Banquet for Dr. Shirley Hodge Hardin.


Valdosta State University will be hosting a Paying It Forward: The Retirement Celebration and Scholarship Banquet for Dr. Shirley Hardin on January 16, 2016 at Valdosta State University, 1500 N. Patterson St. , Student Union Ballroom, Valdosta, GA 31698, at 7pm.

After 40 years of teaching, encouraging, and mentoring students of all ages, Dr. Shirley H. Hardin, Valdosta State University Director of African American Studies and Professor of English, will celebrate her tenure in academia by “Paying it Forward” at a retirement banquet. The event will facilitate the establishment of an academic scholarship for VSU students.

Dr. Shirley Hardin graduated from Albany State College in 1974. After teaching developmental English for one year at her alma mater, Albany State College, Hardin was recruited to Valdosta State in the fall in 1976.
