Religious…But Lost

Multitudes of church members, when they come to the end of life’s journey, awaken to the fact that they have missed heaven, because they had never been born again. They substituted church membership, confirmation, baptism and communion the NEW BIRTH. (John 3:7)

“Except a man be born again, he cannot see the kingdom of God “(John 3:3). An unsaved man cannot see the good things the Lord has in His kingdom here on earth; but they are for us who have truly been born into His kingdom, and trust and serve Him.

THE BIBLE SAYS: “Believe on the Lord Jesus Christ, and thou shalt be saved, and thy house.” (Acts 16:31) “Jesus saith unto him, I AM the way, the truth, and the life: no man cometh unto the Father but by Me.” (John 14:6). “Therefore being justified by faith we have peace with God through our Lord Jesus Christ” (Romans 5: 1) “For the wages of sin is, death, but the gift of God is eternal life through Jesqs Christ our Lord.” (Romans 6:23) “But put ye on the Lord Jesus Christ, and make not provision for the flesh, to fulfill the lusts thereof.”(Romans 13:14) “That which is born of flesh is flesh; and that which is born of Spirit is Spirit”(John . 3:6,7).

When we are born naturally, or, of the flesh, we are born with the desires of the flesh in our hearts. There is a desire in our hearts for the things of this world to sin, some of them were listed in my last article now to list a few more: playing the lottery, selling and using drugs, sex without marriage, and deceit, just to add a few more. We may stop doing some of these things sometimes, but the desire is still there. We cannot take the desire out of our heart. We cannot make ourselves good enough to enter the kingdom of God. “But we are all as filthy rags.” (Isaiah 64:6). The only way to enter the kingdom of God, I say again, is by being Born of the Spirit of God. (John 3:6)

This is what happens when we come to Jesus Christ, confessing our sins and turning from them, and accepting Him as our Savior and Lord. He forgives our sins and takes out of our hearts the desires of the flesh and the lust thereof, and puts in our hearts a desire for the things of God.

That desire is to Love the Lord, to love our neighbors, to pray, to read the Bible, to attend church, and to help others in every way possible. The Lord gives us a song in our hearts, joy, and peace, and grace to do His will as we walk by faith. Remember, God looks on the desires of the heart, as well as what we do. Therefore we cannot begin to serve God until we have been “Born Again” – that is- converted or saved from our sinful lusts. (Rom. 10: 10).

Oh, how wonderful! “O for a thousand tongues to sing my great Redeemer’s praise!” Hallelujah Amen! Religion, and good works without a definite experience of salvation, will not give us an entrance into the kingdom of God. Not by works of righteousness which we have done, but according to His mercy He saved us, by the washing of regeneration, and renewing of the Holy Ghost” (Eph. 2:8 and Titus 3:5).

Heaven’s door will open only to such as have been regenerated and washed from their sins through the blood of the Lord Jesus Christ. All others no matter how religious or sincere, or how many good works they have done, will not find favor with God; for All our self-righteousness is as filthy rags in His sight.

How could I come with works of mine Wrought by a sinful heart? I thus could share but wrath Divine, And hear His word, “Depart!” It is by grace I’m justified, Not boasting may I know; My soul in Christ is satisfied, Peace doth my heart o’er flow.” Say this prayer: Lord Jesus, I believe you died for my sin. I know I am a sinner, and cannot save myself. Forgive me now, and come into my heart as my personal Lord and Savior. Help me to walk pleasing in Your sight from this day forward, in Your precious name I pray. Amen. Compliments of: Rachel Thomas, a pilgrim in this land – (Just Passing Through)
