Opening night of Cirque du Soleil’s Quidam was one that left its audience in a state of amazement. Throughout the show, there were many laughs and even times when it seemed as if every person in the audience was holding his or her breath in anticipation of what would happen next.

There were breathtaking acrobatic acts and magical dancing and singing renditions. Throughout the show, the audience saw an Aerial Contortion in Silk performance, Diaboles, or Chinese yo-yoing, Skipping Rope, Aerial Hoops, Spanish Webs, a Statue performance, a Hand Balancing act, Banquine, and a German Wheel act. There were even moments when unsuspecting audience members had an opportunity to be apart of the show. It was all quite entertaining.

Each act was better than the last, most sending your mind into a state of wonder. You’d wonder how anyone could twist, contort, or even balance their body in such a way. Jamillia Chavis, of Savannah, says, “It was my first Cirque show and I loved it! The girl in the ribbon was my favorite.” Her husband, Gus Chavis, who also was a first timer says, “I didn’t think I would like it, but they proved me wrong.”

He enjoyed the German Wheel and the Spanish Web acts the best.

With the turnout that the show received, it’s a wonder if Cirque du Soleil will return to Savannah in the future with other titles. Quidam is a show for the whole family, both young and old will enjoy.

Speaking for himself and his wife, Gus says, if more Cirque titles come to Savannah in the future they will be in attendance.
