Attention all Community Members & Alfred Ely Beach Alumni

The Alumni of Alfred Ely Beach High School is searching for Mentors, Motivational Speakers and volunteers for this school year (2008-2009). We are asking for the community donations of school uniforms or $25, school supplies, and time. All financial donations are tax deductible and all volunteers are greatly appreciated. We need volunteers to monitor and maintain the condition of the closet from 7:30-8:45am and 1:45pm-2:45pm. Uniforms and school supplies can be drop off at the school, August 1-29 from 7:30am- 3:30pm (Mon-Fri). The drive will be on August 23, 2008 at Cann Park from 9am-3pm, "Praise in the Park". The another uniform and mentor drive will be at the Beach and Savannah High football game on August 29, 2008.

Town Hall Meeting

In an effort to support Green and Sustainability Initiatives in Savannah, the Verb Altitude Hour is endorsing the next town hall meeting. On the August 11, 2008, Jennifer Payne with the City of Savannah will be on the Broadcast discussing Sustainability initiatives in Savannah. Please listen to 90.3 FM August 11, 2008 and every Tuesday at 1:00 PM to 2:00PM. Additionally, check out the public service announcement for the August Town Hall meeting below.

Sustainability will be the focus of the City of Savannah’s next quarterly Town Hall Meeting, to be held at 7 p.m. Aug. 20 at the Savannah Civic Center. Staff will present baseline data on City energy and fuel usage, outline programs Savannah has already implemented to reduce our carbon footprint, and engage community leaders in a dialogue about setting new goals and how we’re going to reach them. All citizens are invited to attend.

This property is in the general area of Gwinnett Street between Interstate 16 and Stiles Avenue.

Disco and Dancing

Friends of Animals of the Coastal Empire Inc. will hold its 10th annual auction on Friday, September 12th from 7:30 to 11:00 p.m. at Savannah Station. This year¿s theme is, STUDIO 54 PAWS. Admission is $45 at the door and includes fine catering from local chefs, open bar, silent and live auctions, and disco dancing.
