Pin Point’s 2nd Annual Seafood Festival

On Saturday, September 20, Sweetfield of Eden Baptist Church hosts the 2nd Annual Seafood Festival at 9992 Pin Point Road, 10am – 8pm. Visitors can enjoy some of the best crab, shrimp and low country boil from local vendors. There will be fun activities for children, shopping, and live music. The entertainment includes Huxie Scott, Porschia Mitchell, Chelby Lynn, Akeem Brown and Deep End. Admission is $5 and tickets will be sold at the ticket booth in $1 increments to purchase food. $10 tickets include entrance into the Pin Point Heritage Museum.

The vision of Bishop Thomas J. Sills and the leadership of the church is to continue telling Pin Point’s story. Also, the event proceeds will benefit the Greenbriar’s Children’s Center. Pin Point has a rich history created by the Gullah Geechee community. The freed slaves were able to establish and sustained themselves in this area isolated from Savannah. Pin Point is tucked away along Moon River, about a twenty minute drive but so worth it. Sweetfield of Eden Baptist Church, established in 1897, is still a viable entity in the community today.

This is not only a celebration for Pin Point but a way to welcome its neighbors. By visiting the Pin Point Heritage Museum, guests will learn how the first-generation freedmen, their family, religion and work were “deeply connected to the water.” Why not do it with good food and fun! There will be something for everyone.
