The officers and members of the Historic Second African Baptist Church, 123 Houston St., Greene Square, announces the convening of the Ordinating Counsel for Minister Jessie S. Holmes.

Per the Counsel’s recommendation, the Ordination Service is scheduled for Sunday, December 5th, at 5 p.m. with the guest messenger Rev. Sammie Kenty and the Jerusalem Baptist Church. Jessie S. Holmes, born in Savannah on November 18, 1985, is a 2004 graduate of Sol C. Johnson High School. He received a bachelor of arts degree in Early Childhood Education in 2008 from Armstrong Atlantic State University (AASU). Since 2004, he has served at the AASU Baptist Collegiate Ministry (BCM) as vice president (2006-2007) and leader of Guys Small Group (present). He is a dedicated fourth grade teacher with the Savannah-Chatham County Public School System. He is an active volunteer at Southside Baptist Church with the Bona Bella Bears.

In 2002, Jessie humbly accepted the title of Licentiate at the Historic Second African Baptist Church where he now serves as Youth Minister and Bible Study teacher.

In 2011, Jessie will begin working towards his Masters of Divinity at New Orleans Theological Seminary in Marietta, Ga. Following seminary, he is planning to begin his next season of life as a collegiate campus minister. We look forward to seeing you on December 5th, 5 p.m. at Second African.
