One More Clash At The Playoffs: Warriors vs. Cavaliers 2018

For the last three years, the Cleveland Cavaliers and the Golden State Warriors have clashed at the playoffs with mixed results. The Cavaliers took the Playoff win in 2016 and the Warriors took home wins in both 2015 and 2017. The question is, will the Warriors pull out a third win at the playoffs and solidify their place among other NBA Championship teams as the current reigning champ or will the Cavaliers pick up where the Houston Rockets left off and give Golden State a run for their money?

One big problem for the Golden State Warriors is their overconfidence in their ability to sweep the playoffs like last year with 67 regular season wins and 15 straight playoff wins. This year, the Warriors 58-win season was fairly mundane and uninteresting, leading to a brief hope that the Rockets could take the Western Conference from them this year. In the first half of Game 7, the Rockets were earnestly challenging an uneasy Warriors team with a half-time score of 54-43; but ultimately, an injured Chris Paul and a streak of 27 missed three-pointers in a row allowed Steph Curry and Kevin Durant to close the point-gap in the third and fourth quarters. A disappointing loss for the Rockets, but a glimmer of hope for other teams looking to unseat Golden State.

The worry for the Cleveland Cavaliers is not overworking LeBron James during the playoffs. James’ workload during the regular season and the playoffs is overwhelming and exhausting and the concern is that the strain may be too much to handle for much longer. With the 33-year old playing in all 82 regular season games this year and playing 743 of 864 possible total playoff minutes, will LeBron be too worn out to put up a fight against the Warriors?

Tune in to the next few games to watch how the 2018 Playoff season unfolds. Game 1 will be on Thursday, May 31 at 9 PM with Cavaliers at Warriors. The rest of schedule will be as follows: Game 2 – Sunday, June 3 at 8 PM, Game 3 – Wednesday, June 6 at 9 PM and Game 4 – Friday, June 8 at 9 PM. If necessary, Game 5 will be on Monday, June 11 at 9 PM, Game 6 will be on Thursday, June 14 at 9 PM, and Game 7 will be on Sunday, June 17 at 8 PM.
