One Georgia Child Will Win $1,529 Toward a Path2College 529 Plan

Coloring is perhaps one of the first activities a child embarks upon on his or her educational journey, creating a foundation for creativity and a lifetime of learning.

This September, coloring can also help create a financial foundation for one Georgia child. In recognition of College Savings Month, the Path2College 529 Plan is holding a coloring sweepstakes where one child will be awarded $1,529 for his or her college savings plan.

“September is National College Savings Month, and I am proud to once again join states across our country in an effort to raise awareness of the importance of saving for college by officially declaring September College Savings Month in Georgia,” said Governor Nathan Deal. “Education is the key to help our children succeed and achieve their dreams, and I hope families will begin planning for their children’s future by saving today.”

To enter the coloring sweepstakes, children in Pre- Kindergarten through 5th grade should color Hootie the Wise Old Owl and answer the question, “When I graduate, I’m going to be a ____.” Coloring sheets and official rules can be found at www.Path2College529.com . Entries must be submitted by a parent or legal guardian, postmarked by September 30, 2011, and must be received by October 11, 2011. One winner will be drawn at random in October to receive the prize of $1,529. The winner’s school will also receive $1,000.

In addition to the coloring sweepstakes, the Path2College 529 Plan is also currently offering a newborn sweepstakes open to Georgia residents. The sweepstakes will award one lucky Georgia newborn $5,529 toward his/her college savings. Georgia babies born between January 1, 2011 and December 31, 2011 are eligible. Parents and grandparents of 2011 newborns can enter to win this exciting prize. No purchase necessary. Void where prohibited.
