A key section of Ogeechee Road/US 80/State Route (SR) 26 is currently scheduled for widening and reconstruction to better serve both drivers and bicyclists.
The Georgia Department of Transportation will be on hand from 4 p.m. to 6 p.m. Thursday, Dec. 13 at Cloverdale Community Center, 1919 Cynthia St., Savannah, to answer questions and take comments about project designs. This Public Information Open House will be informal, and the public is invited to attend anytime during these hours.
A court reporter will be available to allow the public an opportunity to make verbal comments about the project.
This estimated $25 million construction project spanning 1.65 miles proposes to widen Ogeechee Road from just east of Lynes Parkway to just east of the Springfield Canal and the Victory Drive intersection. Approximately 1,400 feet of Victory Drive would also be reconstructed to tie the proposed widening into the existing roadway.
The current twolane roadway would be widened to provide one, 12 foot and one, 11-footlane in each direction, with two, four-foot-wide bicycle lanes in each direction and a 16-foot-wide raised median. The bridge over CSX railroad would be replaced.
