Music For Life Free Concert

The public is invited to Music for Life , a free concert event in Forsyth Park which highlights the need for saving lives through organ and tissue donation and transplantation. LifeLink of Georgia, the state’s non-profit organ recovery organization, will host the event, which will feature Reggae, Soul, R&B, and Jazz music, donor family and recipient testimonials, raffles and a health fair. Music for Life will be held from 5pm-9pm at Forsyth Park Band Shell.

More than 4,300 Georgians are in need of an organ transplant and over 3,900 of those are awaiting a kidney transplant. Twothirds of those awaiting a kidney transplant in Georgia are African American. The African American community is uniquely impacted by the need for organ transplantation because diseases resulting in kidney failure – like diabetes and high blood pressure – are more prevalent in the African American community than other populations, leading to dialysis and the need for a kidney transplant. The only way to save the lives of those waiting for a kidney transplant is through organ donation. “LifeLink looks forward to bringing this event to the Savannah community and wants to encourage our community members to register their donation decision.” 149,096 citizens of Chatham County have already registered their decision to give the Gift of Life at www.donatelifegeorgia.org.
