Providing “something for every music lover” the Armstrong Atlantic State University Department of Art, Music & Theatre (Armstrong AMT) presents Music Ensembles Showcase, its annual music scholarship concert, at 7:30 p.m. Tuesday, February 19th in Armstrong Fine Arts Auditorium.
According to Armstrong AMT professor of music and pianist Kevin Hampton, D.M.A., “students shine in this annual concert that puts the best of every Armstrong music ensemble on stage in quick succession all in one night.” Performing groups in University Chorale, Vocal Chamber Singers, Jazz Combo and AMT’s Wind, Percussion and Jazz Ensembles.
Highlights from the 2013 concert include jazzer Sammy Nestico’s Hay Burner, percussion specialist Ney Rosauro’s Brazilian Samba Baião, Francis Poulenc’s Deux Chansons, Percy Grainger’s band masterpiece Lincolnshire Posy, and Jonathan Willcocks’ entertaining comic choral spoof Musical Risotto, as performed by dueling soprano music majors Allison Drinkard and Adrianna Perrucci accompanied by the University Chorale.
Regular admission tickets to the Armstrong Music Ensembles Showcase Concert are now on sale for only $12, while senior citizens, military personnel, and children/students save $2 off the regular admission price.
