The Martin Luther King, Jr. Observance Day Committee is pleased to announce the 2014 MLK, Jr. Parade Grand Marshals. They are Sgt. Betty Morgan of the United States Army and retired educator, and Michael O’Neal of Parent University. Rev. Lexcie Aiken, Pastor of St. Luke Baptist Church located on 38th at MLK has been named the 2014 MLK, Jr. Civil Rights Activist.
The 2014 Theme Winners are First Place: Maiyah Dortch, Esther F. Garrison 6th Grade: “Learn the History, Appreciate the Sacrifice, Live the Dream”; 2nd Place: Zoe Bailey, Oglethorpe Charter School – 6th Grade: “Living Beyond His Dream, While Celebrating His Legacy” and 3rd Place: Sierra Vincent, Oglethorpe Charter School – 8th Grade: “Remembering the Dreamer, Embracing His Vision, Achieving New Heights”.
The Marshal’s Reception will be held on Sunday,
