Michael Foran has received the privilege and honor of being adorned as the 2016 Grand Marshal for the 192nd St. Patrick’s Day Parade. In front of friends and family during a private ceremony, Foran was able to live out his childhood dream. His wife, Patricia Beytheh Foran says, “I’m very proud of him; he’s worked very hard and has wanted this position since he was very little…” Alongside Foran to help celebrate St. Patty’s Day is his 13-year-old son, who could be the youngest Grand Marshal aide ever in the parade history.
In 2012, while Foran served as the chairman of the Parade Committee, he confidently stated that the holiday would garner in 1 million people. This year, the Irishman is feeling rather lucky, believing that 2 million people will make their way to Savannah. The parade will take place Thursday, March 17, at 10:15 a.m.
