Metro Savannah Rotary Chooses Fresh Air Home As Annual Service Partner

The Metropolitan Savannah Rotary Club is proud to announce it has selected Tybee Island-based Fresh Air Home as its 2016- 17 Annual Service Partner.

Since 1939, Fresh Air Home has provided an overnight beach camp experience to at-risk Chatham County children ages 4-11. While on Tybee, the children experience the beach twice daily, field trips, picnics, arts/crafts, music, sports, talent shows, dance and movies. The nonprofit provides the children with all they need with the exception of a bathing suit and tennis shoes.

Fresh Air Home was chosen as Metro’s Service Partner by a vote of Club membership after receiving applications from 15 local nonprofits.

“Service is at the core of Metro Savannah’s mission, and is something our members take seriously,” said immediate past President Suzanne Kirk. “They voted Fresh Air Home as our service partner because they felt it allowed our Club to make a direct impact on the children of our community.”

Over the next year, Metro Savannah expects to raise more than $10,000 for Fresh Air Home, and volunteer many hours making improvements to Fresh Air’s property and helping to organize events.

In addition to Service Partner activities, Metro Savannah will participate in monthly service projects with a dozen other nonprofits over the next 12 months. Over the past year, Metro Rotarians completed 17 service projects, volunteering more than 400 hours with worthy causes across Savannah.
