Men Making a Difference Awards Banquet to be Held

My Brothaz HOME, Inc. is set to host the annual ‘Men Making a Difference’ banquet and recognition dinner on Saturday, August 20th beginning at 5PM in the Hoskins Building on the campus of Memorial Health University Medical Center.

The banquet will honor several men in our area who are contributing to the lives of helping others. Many of the men who are slated to be honored support the mission and work of My Brothaz HOME, Inc.

Some of the men honored are as follows: Dr. Irvin Clark, Kevin Clark, Chris Hargrove, Mark Baggett, Daniel Dodd, Rev. Carl Gilliard, Wes Crenshaw, Lester Anthony and Reginald Lee. Although every nominee will receive recognition, one of the nominees will be awarded a plaque and a chance to join the Executive Director on the Mid- Morning Live show on WTOC-TV to promote his work in the community.

The speaker for the event is Dr. David Malebranche. Dr. Malebranche is an Assistant Professor of Medicine at Emory University’s School of Medicine and has a joint appointment with the Rollins School of Public Health in Atlanta, Georgia. Also, he is known as a dynamic speaker nationwide. Has appeared in documentaries on CNN, ABC News Primetime, TV One and BET for his expertise on HIV in the Black community.

In addition to the speaker, there will be a silent auction, entertainment and recognition of all nominees. Sponsors as of this date include Comcast, Coastal Health District, and Walgreens. Mark Douglas, Executive Director states “this year’s event is guaranteed to bring surprises, laughter, tears, tasty food, fellowship and well deserved honor. Guests are coming from as far away from Atlanta, Georgia, Detroit, Michigan and Orlando, Florida to participate in the event”.

My Brothaz HOME, Inc., based in Savannah is a local community-based federally recognized nonprofit organization founded in 2000 with the mission of providing HIV prevention education, rapid HIV testing and other STD screening services, supportive and linkage and referral services to diverse populations including youth, men and women.
