The event was hosted by the Georgia Bankers Association and a group of Savannah area bankers, including Robert E. James, President of Carver State Bank.
James said he was pleased to participate in the event after he spoke with Representative Carter before the event about the unique challenges facing small community banks like Carver. James said that Carter said he understands and reminded James of his previous service as a director of Coastal Bank. In Congress, Carter serves on the Education and Workforce, Homeland Security and Oversight & Government Reform committees.
James said he was also pleased to meet GBA Chairman Jackson McConnell, Jr. at the reception, and the two experienced Georgia bankers agreed to stay in touch. McConnell Jr. is President and CEO of Pinnacle Financial Corporation and its subsidiary bank, Pinnacle Bank headquartered in Elberton. McConnell has been President of Pinnacle Bank since 2001. He is the third-generation to manage the bank after his father and grandfather. The bank was established in 1934.
The successful event was also attended by leaders from South Bank, Sea Island Bank, Queensborough National Bank, Colony Bank, United Community Bank, Ameris Bank, SunTrust, Wells Fargo, and BB&T.
