May 24th Primary Election Results


Savannah Chatham County Primary Election was held last Tuesday, May 24th. The results are as follows: Al Scott will retain his position as Chatham County Commission Chairman. He ended with 64% of the vote over Tony Center. In the Sheriff’s race, McArthur Holmes will face newly elected Chatham County Sheriff John Wilcher in the November election. Holmes beat out Kim Middleton with 64% of the vote. Carl Gilliard won the State Rep. District 162 race over Alicia Blakely and Josey Sheppard. He ended the night with 55% of the vote. The County Commission race results are as follows: District 2: James Holmes won over Detric Leggett receiving 64% of the votes District 3: Bobby Lockett won over Sabrina Kent and Anne Hales Sheer with 51% of the votes

In the race for District 5 County Commissioner seat, Yusuf Shabazz will go to a runoff on July 26th with Tabitha O’Dell since neither ended with 50% of the vote. Shaundra McKeithen ended in third place.

District 8: Rev. Chester Ellis won over Tyrone Ware. Ellis received 66% of the votes Tammie Mosley won the race for Chatham County Clerk of Superior Court defeating Brenda Kennedy. Mosley received 68% of the votes.
