For 21 years Reverend/ Pastor Matthew Southall Brown, Sr. has been a staple on WSOK Radio Joy in the Morning broadcast, rendering his Monday thru Friday 6:30 a.m. Meditative Thoughts is about the daily devotional radio ministry the Pastor Brown says that the mission is simply to give the listeners a word or thought to get them up and get them going through the day. Life is lived one day at a time, if I can inspire them to just keep on keeping on, to not give up, to not give out, then my mission is accomplished.

The Savannah native, who has served on the clerical delegation inspiring and inaugurating four Savannah Mayor and Council administrations, will be recognized during the first week of September, at the National Baptist Convention USA for over 50 years of service in the ministry. Having pastored four churches in his career, and being no stranger in churches across the breadth and depth of the region, Pastor Brown was inspired and encouraged by many to pen his meditative thoughts so that listeners could have them to refer in the personal and private settings. I have been approached by people in malls, grocery stores, and churches and all over who have let me know how much they enjoy listening to me every morning, and have asked when I was going to write these meditation down so they would have them. Responding to these requests, as well as a desire to leave some writings for posterity, has come to fruition with the publishing of The Best of Pastor Matthew Southall Brown, Sr. 6:30 a. m. Meditative Thoughts.

Friends and Family of Pastor Brown will host a Reception and Inaugural Book Signing for him on Thursday September 12, 2013, in the Aaron L. Buchsbaum Learning Center of the EOA, located at 1120 May Street, from 5:00-7:00 p.m.

Brown said of the upcoming event, As you can imagine, I am very excited and proud of the potential for service and inspiration of Meditative Thoughts, as this effort brings to fruition the request of many people over the years who have requested and encouraged me to record my daily morning meditative thoughts in a form that they could take home, share with others and study on their own time.
