Lambda Tau Upsilon Christian Sorority National Convention In Memphis


Several members of the Iota Chapter attended the 2014 National Convention of Lambda Tau Upsilon Christian Sorority, Inc. which was heldon the campus of the University of Memphis,in Tennessee. These members include: Adelphi Rosetta Gundy, Adelphi Tiffany Donald, Adelphi Jenean Turner, and Adelphi Roxann Prescott. The National Convention theme was “Caution! Women of God at Work.” Adelphes from all over the country attended this blessed and momentous occasion. While attending the convention, members of the organization participated in leadership classes that included training for various organizational positions. Major educational emphasis was placed on Evangelism and Discipleship.

The current Grand National President, Adelphi Alina Chambers, gave the state of the sorority address. In the address she highlighted the many accomplishments that the organization has achieved since the Inaugural National Convention in 2011. All chapters are diligently working to complete our mission which is to win souls for Christ. The presence of the Lord was evident throughout the entire convention often times overflowing into the hallways to people who were just passing by.

Sorority Awards were presented to various members and chapters for their hard work and dedication to the Grand National Chapter. The Order of the Rose which recognizes extraordinary commitment, was presented to Savannah Adelphes Jenean Turner, 2nd GNVP; Rosetta Gundy, Iota Chapter Delegate; and Katrese Adams, GN Expansion Director, as well as others. The President’s Award was presented to Tiffani Cameron of Birmingham, AL.. Iota Chapter was recognized for two esteemed awards: Distinguished

Service Award and Outstanding Chapter Award.

2nd GNVP Jenean Turner organized and facilitated the Sorority’s first National Queen’s Contest. Iota Chapter was represented by Adelphi Rosetta Gundy. Adelphi Gundy was very poised and spoke well during the Question and Answer Session and placed as the 2nd Runner up to our National Queen.

The chapter is very proud of her accomplishment and looks forward to supporting our next chapter queen. 2nd GNVP Jenean Turner also instituted and organized the Sorority Scrapbook Competition. Iota Chapter won for both the Best Cover and Best Content in this competition. The Scrapbook highlighted the chapter’s events, services, and fellowship for the past two years. Iota Chapter would like to thank Adelphi Tiffany Donald for her time and effort in designing and making the Chapter scrapbook.

The Grand National Officers were elected to serve for the next three years. Adelphi Tiffany Cameron of Birmingham, Alabama was elected to serve as the organization’s 2nd Grand National President. Adelphi Jenean K. Turner was elected to serve as the 1st GNVP of Operations. In this capacity she will work diligently with chapters throughout the country to ensure that the organization’s mission and vision are met. Adelphi Turner is a member of Alpha and Omega Worship Center, Savannah, GA. She is currently the President of Iota Chapter. She also holds membership in Zeta Phi Beta Sorority, Inc., Alpha Theta Zeta Chapter; Elite Temple #71, I.B.P.O.E.O.W.; and a Past Matron of Savannah Chapter #159, Order of the Eastern Star, PH. Adelphi Tiffany Donald was elected to serve as the GN Standards Chair. She currently serves as Iota Chapter Secretary. Adelphi Donald is a member of Electa Chapter #1, Order of the Eastern Star, PH. Adelphi Donald is the Associate Director of Undergraduate and Traditional Age Students at Armstrong State University. Current GNP Adelphi Alina Chambers, who is also one of the six Founder’s received many gifts of appreciation for her untiring service and dedication to Lambda Tau Upsilon Christian Sorority, Incorporated for the past six years.

The National Convention closed with their Pearlescent Rose Scholarship Award Concert which was held at The Faith Center. The concert was opened by Iota’s own songstress Adelphi Tiffany Donald and featured Gospel Recording Artist MKJ. Also appearing were Derrick Scurlock and VOP, Men of Vision, Sierra Ward-Pope, Calvin Dixon, and Billy Rivers & AVOF. The Sorority presented two scholarships to two deserving students. The Tara Cynthia Blake Scholarship was presented to Danisha Vasser who will be attending Lincoln University to pursue a degree in Criminal Justice. The Annie Mae Williams Scholarship was awarded to Lynda Pace who is attending William Carey University pursuing a degree in Nursing. Also, a large donation of toiletry items was collected from each chapter by our 2nd Grand National Vice President Jenean Turner and was given to the Trinity Outreach Center of Memphis.

The Iota Chapter was founded on November 16, 2009 by Adelphi Katrese Adams. Our mission is to serve God serve our sisters and to serve our community. We are unashamed vessels for Christ.
