“Safe Families and Domestic Violence” is the theme of a luncheon for clergy and lay leaders that will be held on Oct. 20th as part of Domestic Violence Awareness Month activities. Sponsored by the Family Violence Council and Victim Witness Assistance Program, the event will feature Kristina Korobov, a nationally recognized trainer of prosecutors and the daughter of a clergy member.
Korobov will address how batterers use faith and faith leaders to control victims and justify violence, how encouraging earthly accountability can help make families safer, and how the lack of intervention in violent homes damages children and perpetuates the cycle of violence.
Cost of the luncheon is $25. It will be held from 11 to 1:30 at the Marriott on Thursday, Oct. 20th . Preregistration is required.
The Savannah Chatham (GA) Family Violence Council is made up of representatives of local victim service agencies, law enforcement, and prosecution. Our goal is to coordinate services to assist victims and their children, and to educate the public about family violence.
