How many of you remember the Azalea Bowl Classic (1951-1965)? It was the annual showdown between the Beach High Bulldogs and the Woodville High Wolverines. Always played on Thanksgiving, this was a classic event in the city of Savannah.
Recently, a group of alumni from both schools met and thought that it would be great to celebrate and recall those wonderful competitive moments that also included the bands and cheerleaders.
On Saturday, December 30, 2017 at the Progressive Recreation Center on Ogeechee Road, beginning at 1:00 pm, ‘The Beach Alumni and Friends’ and the ‘Woodville Tompkins Alumni and Friends’ will gather to remember and have a fun day of celebrating and reflecting with plenty of good food, music, dancing and door prizes. We are asking a donation of $25.00 for tickets. The proceeds will be used to benefit and enhance the athletic programs of each of these two institutions.
Tickets can be purchased from: Teddy Adams – (912) 604-7741, Enoch Mathis – (912) 234-7111, Lawrence Hutchins – (912) 656-0090, Marion “Shag” Dingle – (912) 352-7768, William “Larue” Mosley – (912) 236-1514, Charles Johnson – (912) 233-6595 or Lester’s Florist.
