The next Signature Roundtable and Open Forum of the Hungry Club Forum of Savannah, Inc. (HCFS) will be held on Saturday July 11, 2015, at 9:30 AM, at the WSB YMCA, located at 1110 May Street.

The forum will focus on Dismantling the School-to-Prison Pipeline. The school-to-prison pipeline refers to the policies and practices that push our nation’s school children, especially our most at-risk children, out of classrooms and into the juvenile and criminal justice systems. This pipeline reflects the prioritization of incarceration over education. For a growing number of students, the path to incarceration includes some identified “stops” that we must dismantle.

The school-toprison pipeline: an epidemic that is plaguing schools locally and across the nation. Far too often, students are suspended, expelled or even arrested for minor offenses that leave visits to the principals office a thing of the past. Statistics reflect that these policies
