Healing Metabolic Syndrome

I heard recently that the number of persons with high blood pressure is growing so fast that if you have not already been diagnosed with high pretention, there is a 90%chance that you will be if you don’t make some changes in your lifestyle and diet. The risk of being diagnosed with high blood pressure is greater than 90 percent for persons in western countries, according to The Lancet.

It’s really no surprise that hypertension and high blood sugar is on the rise, with the food supply in this country being what it is today. Poor health is probable. No, counted on, by the pharmaceutical companies, and medical schools. The journal Diabetes reported in 1998, that twothirds of study subjects who were insulin resistant, also had high blood pressure. Likewise, if the blood pressure is tested first, and is high, then the blood sugar is likely to be high also.

The relationship between blood pressure and blood glucose levels is that solidly linked. This link is part of a debilitating health problem sometimes called metabolic syndrome. Many persons with HBP and elevated blood sugar, are also at increased risk for heart attack and stroke, even when they think they are being controlled by the medications. Wrong. This is especially dangerous because hypertension often has no warning signs or symptoms, and so, undiagnosed persons don’t know that hey are at risk, and persons diagnosed with HBP may not know that they are in a danger zone.

The good news is that obtaining a healthy blood sugar level and a healthy blood pressure level is easily within our control. But, you would not think so, necessarily, with so many persons taking multiple medications for high blood pressure, and the blood pressure is still not properly controlled.

Although, taking steps to change some simple lifestyle habits, learning about food, and reading package labels when shopping, can easily bring high blood pressure and high blood sugar under control. We may have a family history of any one of many chronic diseases, but it’s our diet that can seal the deal, or save our life.

The foods we eat, the choices we make in our diet is the most important choice impacting our health. Eating the Right Way: 1. Make every effort to avoid all trans fats, and saturated fats and opt for only lean protein. 2. Choose good quality carbohydrates; that means avoid carbs that have been stripped of their fiber. Look for the first ingredient in bread and cereals to be “100% whole grain.” select unprocessed grains like brown rice, quinoa, barley or bulgur for your side dishes. 3. Fill up on fruits and vegetables. These are the source of powerful vitamins, minerals, antioxidants and anti-inflammatory compounds that actually take an active part in healing the body. Also veggies offer fiber that wards off colon cancer and prostate problems, high cholesterol, diabetes, high cholesterol and slows the aging process. 4. Expose yourself to the “sunshine vitamin”. Scientists links vitamin D deficiency with increased heart disease risk and insulin resistance.

I like cod liver oil (liquid) as the supplement of choice, along with wild fish 3 to 5 times per week, for the important vitamin D-3.

This is part 1. Next week we’ll talk about other factors to consider in controlling metabolic syndrome. If you are tired of the suffering, and are interested in becoming a client of Health Restoration Consulting, we will help you get better, Please call today, or write to:
