Guidicelli Stirs Controversy Over Serena William’s Bodysuit

French Tennis Federation President, Bernard Guidicelli, has caused some controversy after his comment about Serena Williams “catsuit” at the 2018 French Open. He stated that the dress code isn’t as strict as the all-white policy but, “One must respect the game and the place.” “I feel like a warrior in it-a queen from Wakanda maybe,” says Serena. However,

her body suit wasn’t designed for the look. Serena experienced an emergency C-section and shortly after giving birth she was worried of experiencing Pulmonary embolism because of her history of blood clots. The uniform was designed by Nike to aid in blood circulation for Williams after her difficulties during childbirth.

Nike tweeted, “You can take the super hero out of her costume, but you can never take away her superpowers. #Justdoit This past Saturday, Billie Jean King tweeted, “The policing of women’s bodies must end. The “respect” that’s needed is for the exceptional talent @serenawilliams brings to the game. Criticizing what she wears to work is where the true disrespect lies.” Williams downplayed the controversy of the catsuit in a Press conference by stating “I’m sure we would come to an understanding and everything will be okay. Yeah, so it wouldn’t be a big deal. He’s a really great guy.”
